Learning to say no

Tell us about your style:

Fashion isn’t my forte and my style is definitely a mishmash, but I do love anything colourful, even if it doesn’t necessarily ‘go’. My must-haves are a pair of gold hoops, a baggy pastel jumper and literally anything @lucyandyak

What are you doing right now:

I’m on my exchange year studying in Tokyo and feasting on sushi to my heart’s content.

What worship song do you have on repeat?:

I am in no way perfect, nor is my faith, so if I am honest I haven’t been the best at listening to worship recently, never mind having anything on repeat, but when I have dipped in I’ve gravitated to some of the oldies I grew up with like “Mighty to Save”. My favourite of all time is “We Dance” by Steffany Gretzinger – an instant tearjerker.

We’d love to hear something transformational God has done in your life:

Last year was a year of God teaching me to find my worth in Him. This year He has been challenging me not only to know my worth; but to act in alignment with it in my everyday life. Such as learning to be kinder to myself, getting better at saying ‘no’ to things which don’t line up with my priorities and having more confidence to chase the dreams He has placed in my heart. He has been reassuring me that it is okay that I don’t always feel like I can keep up with the speedy machine of life and take things at the pace that He has graced me for in this season. I can rest and trust in the fact it is Him that will get me wherever I need to be. This has given me so much more freedom to slow down and enjoy the little adventures each day brings.

How God loves on me

Tell us about your style:

A work in progress! Post pregnancy I have found it can be hard to find things that suit me and make me feel comfortable in my new body. I’m working on finding staple pieces that I can wear again and again with the occasional bold piece and learning to make accessories my friend. I’m a BIG fan of the head scarf/ big hoops combo.

What are you doing right now:

A few different things! I am worship pastor for my church with my husband but I stay at home with our twin girls whilst doing work at home both for church and in network marketing. I’m also trying to write more blogs, share about my journey with anxiety, and day to day life with twins!

What worship song do you have on repeat?

My husband and I wrote a song called ‘You are with me’, there’s a line in it ‘no, I will not allow my fear to take control, for you are with me.’ I’m having to cling to this daily and remember that my God is with me and HE is in control. I also have Amanda Cook’s Album ‘House on a Hill’ on repeat!

We’d love to hear something transformational God has done in your life:

There are countless things that I could tell you about but my favourite things are when he just quietly, gently provides for me. Whether that’s some money through the door, or an encouraging word from a friend, I love that he gives me good things even when I haven’t asked. It’s the daily, consistency of a loving father that transforms me the most.

Taking small steps to save the planet

Tell us about your style

Comfort is 100% what I’m all about. I love chucking on jeans and a tee and being ready for whatever. I also love dressing down dresses with trainers!

What are you passionate about?

My growing passion is working towards being plastic free and taking small steps to save our planet. Even though I’m not perfect, I know that the tiny things I’m altering in my life are part of a massive change going on.

I’ve been really working hard on changing my lifestyle, from being waste-free on my period, only buying loose fruit and vegetables, making my own oat milk and much more. I’m sharing these experiences on my blog (www.leahfelton.com/blog) to show others out there that it is simple, easy and can be done on a budget.

What worship song do you have on repeat?

I’ve had “You Say” by Lauren Daigle literally on repeat every evening.

We’d love to hear something transformational God has done in your life.

I’ve been working with God on transforming the way I think about myself. As a growing women, it’s so difficult to not compare yourself to others. I absolutely love Instagram but, it’s also my biggest downfall. I constantly look at accounts I strive to be like and then look at mine and think “why don’t I have that many followers?” and “why aren’t I in a job I love and am passionate about?”.

It’s a work-in progress but; I’m learning to bring everyone of these thoughts to God. And by doing so, it’s transforming my inner-self to something beautiful and so much more powerful than I ever imagined. Learning to see myself as God’s sees me seriously something wonderful. I am me and I am uniquely perfect in God.

Anxiety is no friend of mine

Tell us about your style:

In Winter you’ll find me in a beanie, baggy jumper and mom jeans and in Summer I’ll be wearing cute tops, dresses and sunnies. I always have a pair of hoops in, big or small because hoops make everything better.

What are you doing right now:

I’m 19 and moved to Hastings in September to be an intern in a Church. I’ve experienced a time of healing and growth and have learnt to be patient and know He is working even if I don’t completely understand (Exodus 14:14). I’m passionate about people being freed from shame, anxiety and expectations of society. I want to see lives changed through coming to know Jesus.

What worship song do you have on repeat?:

Running In Circles’ by United Pursuit

We’d love to hear something transformational God has done in your life:

God’s transformed my life in unimaginable ways. I’ve never felt enough, always missed the mark, felt rejection, shame, felt physically sick at my reflection and my weight, felt like a burden and at times just haven’t seen the point.

I’ve suffered from anxiety and this is something God is still very much working on but something that I’ve had huge breakthrough in. Panic attacks which used to be a daily thing are now rare as I’m using the authority of God’s word to tell the anxiety where to go. My mind and heart have been transformed by God’s truth that I’m a child of God, loved wholeheartedly, don’t have to carry shame, have purpose, experience peace, I’m God’s handiwork and that Jesus died to know me. I’m starting to love myself more and I know that I will always be enough because my Heavenly Father loves me and THAT IS ENOUGH. And it always will be.

God brought me out of a toxic relationship

Tell us about your style:

“It is quite cute and feminine with a bit of a boyish edge. I’m wearing a lot of silky slip dresses at the moment, but with trainers or chunky boots. I also love a bit of tailoring, but would dress a blazer down with jeans or pair a smart trouser with a tee.”

“I’m always in vintage pieces mixed through with new items and you will almost always find me in trainers.”

What you are doing right now?

“I handpick women’s vintage clothing for my own brand Cats Eyes which I sell on Asos Marketplace and Depop. I’m also a mum of two, so life is super busy, but it’s a lot of fun!”

“I have a sweet spot for vintage finds, I love their uniqueness. With an increasing awareness of how important sustainability is, I especially enjoy being able to reflect current trends with vintage and second hand pieces.”

What worship song do you have on repeat?

“Confident” by Steffany Gretzinger

We’d love to hear something transformational God has done in your life.

“God brought me out of a long term toxic relationship, as well as the heaviness and shame of childhood abuse. Places of darkness, isolation and lies and brought me into his truth and light. He brought me into friendships with good people who love me for who I am, who support me and speak truth to me.”

“He showed me and continues to show me his perfect love and how he sees me. He says I am new creation and a precious daughter, crowned in dignity. He says that long before the earth’s foundation, he had me in mind, had settled on me as the focus of his love. (Ephesians 1:4)”

“He told me that he has a great plan for my life, plans to prosper and not to harm, plans to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)”

“He showed me that he created me just as I am. That revelation and reading his word in the scripture daily helps me to live in freedom and confidence.”

What you dream about doing with him?

“I would love to come alongside vulnerable girls and women to encourage, empower and champion them. To be a part of revealing how big and wide the Father God’s love is for them and how that perfect love transforms lives.”
